AIDS scare at high school

Midwest high school copes with HIV scare - CNN.com: "Students at a suburban St. Louis high school headed to the gymnasium for HIV testing this week after an infected person told health officials as many as 50 teenagers might have been exposed to the virus that causes AIDS.

Officials refused to give details on who the person was or how the students at Normandy High School might have been exposed, but the district is consulting with national AIDS organizations as it tries to minimize the fallout and prevent the infection -- and misinformation -- from spreading."

I like the word "fallout" as if AIDS is radioactive...

But this is pretty bad. I don't think we've had something like this around here. We do have a 1 in 5 AIDS rate, but nothing like this "mass infection".

Thanks for sharing the article.

Hello South Africa!! Admittedly I have not looked into this story in great detail, but there's always the possibility that this is just an especially American brand of mass hysteria.
