Mississippi builds pirate-killers - yes, we do

Came across this 4/13/09 post while checking out Conservative Belle's blog.

Conservative Belle: "Two of the three Navy vessels, that were in the Gulf of Aden to help rescue the hijacked merchant ship, were built in Mississippi. The USS Boxer and the USS Bainbridge once called Northrop-Grumman Shipyard in Pascagoula their home. We are very proud of all the servicemen and women who were involved in the brave rescue of Captain Phillips. Well done."

Full disclosure: my grandmother's second husband George worked at the Pascagoula yard when my brother and I were children; he gave us a photo of one of the early Aegis-class cruisers (USS Ticonderoga is pictured at right), which he and colleagues built in the Great State of Mississippi.

Thanks for the h/t.  Full disclosure, many years ago I worked on the cruisers and destroyers (Arleigh Burke class) built there when it was still Ingalls.  I also worked on the USS Cole, which is why I personalize the attack back in October 2000.
