Did you lose your doggie in Pearl? Please forward

Knowing there's just a low probability that the owner may find this, I'll give it a shot.

This puppy showed up around the house this morning (south Pearl, MS)...  I don't know what kind of dog she is, but she has a collar, no tags, she's got just a little matted mud on her coat and she was awfully grateful for the cheese and water I fed her.  I've called Pearl animal control, tied her to a post at the front door and am hoping for a pleasant ending.  She is adorable!

11-24-09 UPDATE: a nice officer from Pearl Animal Control came to pick up "Smokey" this morning, per my request.  We'd have kept her if we could, but we just aren't set up for pets right now.  She'll be under the care of the Mississippi Animal Rescue League for a while.  I feel hopeful that she'll find a nice home; having spent three days looking after her, I can honestly say this dog (maybe an Aussie or a Spitz, said Animal Control) would be a welcome addition to any pack.
